PRICING FRAMES
The prices quoted below are for frames made to THE CONSERVATION LEVEL which is the second highest of the five quality levels (Museum; Conservation; Commended; Budget and Minimum) as specified by the FINE ART TRADE GUILD and include labour; use of conservation tapes and adhesives, framer's points, underpinning and picture hanging fittings.

Please Note- these prices are for jobs carried out at my workshop and for customers bringing their artwork in and collecting when finished. If you wish to discuss your framing requirements, arrangements can be made for me to call and collect provided it is within the West Yorkshire area. Please contact me for more details.

To establish the price of your frame, first measure your artwork and add on the outer dimensions of the window-mount (usually about 65mm border all round), if required. This gives the rebate size also known as the glass size. Add the height and width together, this gives a figure in cms which you can then read off from the top of the pricing chart to the right of FRAME SIZE cms. For example, <25 is nought to 25cms and 35 is 26 to 35cms etc.

Once you have selected the stye of frame moulding, note the MOULDING CODE (see Selecting Frames) and read off where that specific row meets the vertical column for the Fame Size. To get prices for Glazing & Mounts (if required), Undermount and Backing Board etc, follow the column down and add each individual cost to the overall price.

Example (see highlight)

Given a photograph/print/watercolour painting of size 26cms x 18cms which requires a 65mm standard single mount all-round (therefore adding 13cms to both the height and the width) and a moulding which has a Moulding Code of 3. The customer also requires plain glass.

Oil paintings on board, for example, don't usually require surrounding Mounts; Glazing; Undermount nor Back Boards and so costs can be reduced accordingly. However, oil paintings on canvas should be stretched over stretcher bars. Prices for such are not included below and advice should be sought by emailing me.

Calculation

26cm x 18cm Print Size
13cm x 13cm (2x65mm) Add on the mount
39cm x 31cm = glass or rebate size

Add the two sizes together 39 + 31 = 70cms

This falls into the "75" (ie between 65 & 75 cms) column range, and with a Moulding Code of 3, therefore the job is priced at £38 arrived at as follows:

Frame Size75
Moulding Code 325.00
Glass04.30
Mount Std - single04.20
Undermount01.75
Back Board02.75
Total for job£38.00
